Bristol Prize

Prestigious longlists for Jon Pinnock and Joel Willans

April 26, 2013   Joe Melia

Big congratulations are in order for Jon Pinnock (left) and Joel Willans (right). They have both been longlisted for two of the world’s most prestigious short story awards – The Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award and The Edge Hill Short Story Prize.

They join the likes of George Saunders, Junot Diaz, Joyce Carol Oates, Emma Donoghue and Deborah Levy on the Frank O’Connor list (the world’s richest prize for a short story collection) and are along side, amongst others, Kevin Barry, Jackie Kay, Adam Marek, Jon McGregor and Tania Hershman in the Edge Hill list, the UK’s only prize for a published short story collection.

Jon is longlisted for Dot, Dash published by Salt Publishing and Joel’s longlisted collection is Spellbound published by Route. We will be keeping our fingers crossed for them when the shortlists are announced.

Jon was shortlisted for the 2010 Bristol Short Story Prize and Joel was shortlisted for our inaugural prize in 2008.
