More great publication news to share and it’s a double celebration for Emily Bullock, winner of the 2011 Bristol Short Story Prize: Emily’s second novel, Inside the Beautiful Inside, will be published in the summer and early next year, Human Terrain, her debut short story collection, will be released.
Emily was signed by the Johnson & Alcock literary agency after her BSSP win in 2011. She went on to have her first novel, The Longest Fight, published by Myriad Editions. It was shortlisted for the Cross Sports Book Awards, and listed in The Independent’s Paperbacks of the Year.
Inside the Beautiful Inside, Emily’s second novel, is based on the true story of James Norris an American marine who was chained to a stake for fourteen years in Bethlem, Hospital for the Insane (1800-15)
Emily’s story collection, Human Terrain, deals with female voices, working-class existences, as well as male characters battling with their masculinity. It also includes Emily’s BSSP winning story, My Girl.
It’s brilliant to see Emily’s writing gaining an ever increasing readership and we can’t wait to read both books.
Emily Bullock won the 2011 Bristol Short Story Prize with her story, My Girl. It is available in our Volume 4 anthology
