Bristol Prize

Double success for Joel Willans

February 5, 2010   Joe Melia

Joel Willans, shortlisted for the 2008 Bristol Short Story Prize and published in our first anthology, has recently received two further acknowledgments of his writing talent. Firstly, he was shortlisted for the Southern Cross Literary Competition, an Australian-based writing prize at the end of 2009. Then he received a really prestigious shortlisting in Salt Publishing’s Scott Prize.

Salt Publishing specialize in short stories and are great champions of the genre. The Scott Prize is awarded annually for an unpublished collection of short stories by a single author. Joel’s collection, ‘Buy Ma Biscuits or Kiss Ma Fish’ joins 11 others on the shortlist and is in the running to be one of the four titles published by Salt in the summer.
