Craig Hawes Debut Collection Published

September 25, 2013   Joe Melia

Congratulations to Craig Hawes (left) whose debut collection of short stories, The Witch Doctor of Umm Suqeim, has been published by Parthian Books.

The stories are all set in Dubai and chart the colliding experiences in the lives of the local and expatriate populations. Celebrated writer Niall Griffiths says:”This is how we need to assess culture clash and, indeed, general confrontation born from intractable socio-political differences; with cool, clear, precise and prismatic prose. Hawes does exactly this with tremendous skill and sensitivity.”

A free preview of one of the stories from Craig’s collection is available on the Parthian Books website. We wish Craig every success with the book.

Craig’s story, Pictures in the Dust, was shortlisted for the 2009 Bristol Short Story Prize and published in our Volume 2 Anthology. You can follow Craig on Twitter here
