Marli Roode triumphs at Manchester Literature Festival

Marli Roode, short listed for the 2009 Bristol Short Story Prize with the atmospheric and powerful ‘Second Thoughts’,  has come away with a coveted award at the recent Manchester Literature Festival. The  Festival’s  ‘Is there a Novelist in the House?’ event saw six contenders read extracts from novels in progress in front of an esteemed judging panel : Rebecca Swift from The Literary Consultancy, Cannongate’s Dan Franklin and novelist Sherry Ashworth. The prize up for grabs was £250 and the chance for extensive feedback on their work. Marli was declared the winner in front of a packed audience in the committee room of Manchester Library. Many congratulations to her.
